History of Blackjack games is centuries old that begins from1700s. French casinos are considered the origin of Blackjack. Due to its unique features, Blackjack became popular among the casino owners and players simultaneously throughout the world. The history of online Blackjack is too brief if compared to that of original form of Blackjack. Blackjack was initially known as ‘21' in United States. The term ‘21’ originated from French word 'Vingt-et-un'.

Initially, to make the game popular, Americans offered 10 to 1 bonus payout to winning players drawing initial hand of Ace of Spades and black Jack either Spades or Clubs. Though after few years, 10:1 bonus provision was phased out but the name Blackjack remained stuck. In the modern form of Blackjack, there is no need to draw an Ace followed by Jack to score online Blackjack; because an Ace and any card having face value ‘ten’ will do the same thing.

Some scholars is the refined amalgam of various French card based games. Some people say that casinos derived Blackjack from other popular gambling games like Baccarat, Vingt-et-Un and Seven-And-A-Half. But, it is a fact that even the gambling scholars also don’t know much about its evolutionary development. After French Revolution in 1789, Blackjack reached United States and gained popularity among the masses because of its simplicity, flexibility and wide range of playing options. Very soon, experienced gamblers concluded that Blackjack is a wonderful game for manipulating various bets and odds. As there was no government regulation, gambling flourished with fast pace till the beginning of 19th century, when US government realized that unregulated gambling industry is increasing corruption and organized crime.
